Growing up in Calcutta, fashion was always a language we spoke at home. From discussing fabrics and silhouettes to admiring beautiful drapes and vibrant colours, it was something that naturally became a part of who we are. What started as a shared passion slowly turned into a vision — to create something of our own.
After completing my graduation from NIFT and my master’s degree from Parsons School of Design in New York, I had the opportunity to work with renowned designers such as Vera Wang and Marchesa in the United States, and with Esha Sethi Thirani back home in Kolkata. These experiences shaped my understanding of design, craftsmanship, and the global language of fashion.
When the time felt right, my mother and I decided to bring our shared dream to life. Ssehar was born out of that moment — a homegrown label from Calcutta that reflects our love for thoughtful design, beautiful fabrics, effortless drapes, and the joy of dressing with intention.
For us, Ssehar is more than just a brand. It is a story of passion, heritage, and the bond between a mother and daughter who believed in turning their love for fashion into something meaningful.
